SoundBreak lets you start an original song from ChatGPT with a prompt, lyrics, or a creative direction, then hear the result as a preview. You can choose from the available SoundBreak AI Cowriters, follow generation status, and optionally link a SoundBreak account so your app activity and songs can be associated with that account. ChatGPT playback is a preview only. A download or distribution right depends on the SoundBreak plan, purchase, and license attached to the track.
You can ask SoundBreak in ChatGPT to create a song from:
For example:
Create an original alternative-pop song about leaving home for the first time. Keep the verses specific and reflective, then make the chorus feel determined rather than triumphant.
A useful prompt is not necessarily a long one. Give the song a clear job, then add the details that help you judge the result:
If you need exact words to remain unchanged, provide those lyrics through the input the SoundBreak experience requests. A lyric idea in a prompt is direction, not a guarantee that every word will remain unchanged.
SoundBreak AI Cowriters are built around the approved songwriting characteristics of participating artists. They can guide the song's creative direction, including its songwriting approach, genre, and other musical choices.
An AI Cowriter is not the human artist. A generated track is not a recording by that artist, and it does not mean the artist personally wrote, performed, endorsed, or released the song. Do not present an AI-generated track as a human artist's performance or claim an affiliation that does not exist. SoundBreak's Acceptable Use Policy prohibits those uses.
You can also create with SoundBreak without choosing an AI Cowriter. The main SoundBreak writing flow labels that option On your own.
Song generation can take a few minutes. SoundBreak may return generation status and related song metadata so ChatGPT can show progress and let you play the finished preview. The exact time depends on the request and current system load.
When the song is ready, listen to the preview before deciding what to do next. If the direction is close but not right, make the next request specific:
Keep the previous song's overall direction, but make the next version slower, more intimate, and less dense around the vocal.
Each new request creates a new generation. It does not edit the earlier audio in place.
Playing a SoundBreak song in ChatGPT is a preview only. It does not by itself give you a royalty-free license, a commercial-use license, or permission to distribute the track.
The current SoundBreak Terms distinguish preview playback from the rights attached to a downloaded track. In general:
Do not treat a ChatGPT preview as permission to upload the song to a streaming service, send it through another distributor, or license it as standalone stock audio.
The Terms say that anonymous ChatGPT users may receive a limited number of complimentary generations. When that allowance is used, SoundBreak may ask you to create or connect a free SoundBreak account to continue.
Account linking is optional until the product asks you to link an account to continue. If you choose to link one, SoundBreak may associate the ChatGPT app identity with your SoundBreak account and move complimentary guest projects or songs into it. After linking, your normal SoundBreak plan limits and account rules apply to further generations.
The public Terms do not state the number of complimentary generations. Check the message shown in ChatGPT or the current SoundBreak account and billing experience rather than relying on a number quoted elsewhere.
SoundBreak's Privacy Policy says the ChatGPT experience may process:
SoundBreak may also send prompts, lyrics, style descriptions, reference audio, and generation settings to AI music-generation partners as needed to create the requested audio and operate, secure, and enforce safety policies on their services.
SoundBreak's Privacy Policy states that app platforms such as OpenAI or ChatGPT are separate services and that SoundBreak does not receive your ChatGPT password. SoundBreak also says it does not use ChatGPT conversation history or other app-platform content obtained through these connections to train machine-learning or music-generation models.
The policy describes the data sent through the connection as the prompts, lyrics, selections, buttons, and other information you send through the SoundBreak feature. It does not describe SoundBreak as having access to your full ChatGPT conversation history.
SoundBreak may retain guest or app-linked generation data as needed to operate the service, enforce limits, support account linking, and respond to support or legal requests. You can request access, correction, or deletion by contacting support@soundbreak.ai.
Only submit lyrics, audio, and other creative material that you wrote or have the legal right to use. Do not paste lyrics written by someone else or provide a recording you downloaded, purchased, licensed, or otherwise do not control for use as your own input.
SoundBreak's Acceptable Use Policy prohibits unauthorized music, lyrics, compositions, recordings, stems, vocals, instrumentals, and samples. It also prohibits using an AI-generated track to falsely claim an artist's affiliation, endorsement, authorship, or identity.
Availability can depend on the ChatGPT plan, account, or workspace settings. If the SoundBreak experience is not available, check the current app or connection options in ChatGPT. Do not assume that a missing option means your SoundBreak account is broken.
Account linking can be required after complimentary guest generations are used. If you want to continue, follow the linking flow and sign in or create a free SoundBreak account. If you do not want to link an account, you can stop there.
Generation can take a few minutes and varies with system load. If the status does not resolve, save the session or track link shown to you and contact SoundBreak support. Include your browser, device, any error message, and the relevant session or track link, as requested on the Contact page.
Change one creative decision at a time. Name the part that missed:
If you need to work through lyrics section by section before generating audio, continue in the SoundBreak writing flow.
Can I use my own lyrics in ChatGPT?
Yes. You can provide lyrics you wrote or have the legal right to use. If exact wording matters, use the lyric input requested by the SoundBreak experience instead of relying only on a description in the prompt.
Can I choose a SoundBreak AI Cowriter?
Yes, when that Cowriter is available through the ChatGPT experience. The Cowriter guides songwriting choices, but the result is not the human artist's voice or performance.
Can I use the preview in a commercial video?
Not from playback alone. Check the track's license and download rights. The Terms describe project use for eligible paid-plan downloads and one-time downloads, while standalone distribution remains subject to the track's license and SoundBreak's supported release flow.
Can I distribute a song directly from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT playback is preview only. Use SoundBreak's own release flow for distribution, and confirm that the track, plan, and destination are eligible.
Does linking ChatGPT give SoundBreak access to my ChatGPT account?
SoundBreak does not receive your ChatGPT password. Linking lets SoundBreak associate the app identity and eligible guest projects or songs with your SoundBreak account. ChatGPT remains a separate service with its own terms and privacy practices.
Where can I read the full rules?
Read the SoundBreak Terms, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy. For general songwriting questions, see the SoundBreak FAQ.
